Recommended Quebec Lodgings for Snowmobile Tours…
This is not a list of every Quebec lodgings I’ve ever stayed at for snowmobile tours and snowmobile vacations. It is a totally subjective list of some of my favourite snowmobile-friendly places to stay while sledding that you might like too. Amos, Abitibi-Témiscamingue – Amosphere Resort, complexe hôtelier. An exceptional family-run hotel with many extras such as heated bathroom floors and recliner lounge chairs, this full service facility has an on site restaurant, plus bar, exercise room and two outdoor whirlpools. Ample parking for trucks & trailers, plus heated sled garage or park your sleds right outside your room. Direct trail access just north off Trans Quebec 93. Baie-Comeau, Cote-Nord – Hotel le Manoir. Perched on the St. Lawrence River’s edge on the east side of Baie-Comeau, the 4-star Hôtel le Manoir has all the charm of an historic colonial manor, plus the very best of modern services and amenities (including very comfortable beds). Accessible off Trans Quebec Trail 3 by the same local trail leading to the ferry dock to cross to Matane, the Hôtel le Manoir has an onsite gourmet restaurant, sled parking in front of reception and gas/convenience store available via the next local trail east of the hotel trail turn off. Beauceville, Chaudière-Appalaches – Hotel La Cache du Golf. Sleekest, most ultra-modern design of any snowmobiling lodgings I’ve stayed at. Guest suites are spacious, with super comfortable beds, a lounge area and a huge bathroom with lots of counter space. Secure parking in garage underneath + Restaurant on site. Fuel nearby. Duhamel, Laurentides – Auberge Couleurs de France. Features an authentically log-designed, two-level main lodge. Under its impressive cathedral ceiling, 12 well-appointed and uniquely designed guest rooms are available. There’s also a fireplace lounging area, and an excellent restaurant offering select dinner recipes from various regions of France and Quebec. Daily buffet breakfasts offer a copious array of cereals, fruits, breads and cheeses. Forestville, Cote-Nord – Econo Lodge. Well marked with trail signs, the Econo Lodge Forestville is right beside Trans Quebec Trail 3. With sled parking in front of rooms or under a covered pavilion, the Econo Lodge provides a newly renovated, onsite restaurant and lively bar, with across the street access to fuel and convenience store. Grand Remous, Outaouais – La Pointe à David. With scenic views of Lac Baskatong, La Pointe à David offers a by reservation only snowmobile package. It includes breakfast, dinner and accommodation in main lodge rooms and housekeeping suites. On-site restaurent, gas, a convenience store and even a SAQ outlet. La Malbaie, Charlevoix – Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu. This premier, ultra full service resort is a must-stay for snowmobilers who want a night of pampering! Overlooking the St. Lawrence, it’s a luxurious, breathtaking hotel with three on site restaurants, bar, indoor and outdoor (saltwater) heated pools, indoor and outdoor whirlpools, steam room, health spa, fitness facilities and secure underground sled parking (On arrival, ride right around to the front of the hotel to access sled garage.), plus tunnel access to the adjacent Casino Charlevoix. Direct trail access by Local Trail 124 from Regional Trail 378. Lamarche, Saguenay Lac-St-Jean – Brise du Lac Tchitogama. An exceptional B&B where Reynald and Nicole Dupont welcome sledders to a private and separate part of their large house with three bedrooms, its own kitchen, a great indoor hot tub and a large dry room with heated floors to hang all your gear. Huge breakfast included and advance arrangements can be made for home-cooked dinners. Sled parking in front and fuel nearby in Larmarche. Laurentides – Club Mekoos. Award-winning facility with log main lodge and chalets with all the amenities for snowmobilers, including on-site restaurant/bar, fuel, outdoor hot tub (with bar service), sauna, games room and lobby internet computer. Maniwaki, Outaouais – Château Logue. 51 room, full service hotel with indoor pool, sauna & hot tub, and on site restaurant/bar, plus massage available! Ample parking for sleds in well-lit area at front of hotel. Fuel/convenience store less than a kilometre away on Trans Quebec 13 north, 1st right after crossing the bridge. Auberge du Draveur. Welcomes snowmobilers with many hospitable touches. Rooms are large and classy, yet homey. It provides good Wi-Fi service and also a full-service spa. On-site Resto Pub Le Rabaska provides an extensive menu of very tasty Canadian-style appetizers and main courses, plus live music on weekends. For early rising sledders, breakfast gets a 5:45 AM jump start. View tour article.
Montmagny, Chaudière-Appalaches – Econo Lodge. Decent roadside motel located right across from TO5 with continental breakfast and ground floor rooms with sled parking in front. Gas and restaurant nearby.View tour article. See Central Quebec Snowmobile Planner.
Mont Laurier, Laurentides – Comfort Inn. This full service, 49-room hotel offers hot tub and sauna, plus on site La Cage aux Sports restaurant/bar. Ample parking, with sled access from ground floor rooms. 24-hour video surveillance and electronic security system for sleds. Fuel and convenience store across the street. Monts Valin East, Saguenay Lac-St-Jean – Auberge 31. Located in the heart of Monts Valin, this super popular pit stop offers restaurant, fuel and a limited number of rooms. If you want to be in the centre of the action, this is the place to be. Ample parking for both trucks and sleds. Reservations recommended. Direct trails access from Trans Quebec 93. Quebec City, Quebec Region – DoubleTree by Hilton. Located beside Highway 73 on the east side of the city, this full service hotel has an on site restaurant, plenty of parking and a great outdoor hot tub. Rivière-du-Loup, Bas-Saint-Laurent – Hotel Universel. Located in sight of Highway 20 at exit 503, this is the best staging location for any Gaspésie tour. This bilingual, full service hotel has on site restaurants, bar, indoor pool & hot tub and health spa, plus secure sled garages, an enclosed sled area with video surveillance, and a gated parking compound for your vehicle and trailer. Sacré-Coeur, Cote-Nord – Auberge Ferme 5 Étoiles. Located right on Trans Quebec Trail 93 just north of the Village of Sacré-Coeur and overlooking the Saguenay Fiord, the Auberge Ferme 5 Étoiles provides unique lodging in your choice of motel rooms, condo apartments, cottages or even winterized yurts, plus an onsite restaurant with gas just down the road. With a wildlife refuge on site and many farm animals roaming around, available activities range from sled rentals and sled dog rides to snowshoeing and cross country skiing, the rustic Ferme 5 Étoiles makes a great staging place with lots of parking available for sledding adventures. St-Octave de l’Avenir, Gaspésie – Village Grande Nature Chic-Chocs. Choose either a well-appointed room in the main building or one of several chalets at this wilderness resort complete with restaurant and bar, hot tub and exercise room. No phones in rooms or cell service, but landline available in lobby. Located in the heart of the Chic-Choc Mountains, it’s directly trail accessible and offers great scenery. St-Paul-de-Montminy, Chaudière-Appalaches – Appalaches Lodge Spa Villegiature. Perched in the mountains, this lodge features fully equipped chalets with sled parking beside. The main lodge has a restaurant – and then there’s this amazing spa with an outdoor hot tub waterfall! Direct trail access by Local Trail from Regional Trail 551. Sainte-Émélie-de-L’Énergie, Lanaudière – Auberge du Vieux Moulin. Located on Highway 131 less than 90 minutes north of Montreal, the Auberge du Vieux Moulin is a rustic looking, all-log inn with contemporary amenities consisting of two, multi-floor, joined buildings with 20 modern and well-appointed rooms or suites. There are also two, four-bedroom chalets. Home-cooked gourmet meals, indoor pool, dry sauna and steam room, plus both indoor and outdoor hot tubs. Massages available. Saint-Honoré, Saguenay Lac-St-Jean – Auberge Carcajou. Your hosts, Lise, Marc André and Émy, provide exceptional hospitality at their Quebec-style inn with well-appointed rooms and indoor hot tub, on site restaurant with gourmet meals & downstairs bar. Sainte-Marie, Chaudière-Appalaches – Motel Invitation. Located in town but with direct trail access to Trans Quebec 35, this clean and comfortable roadside motel offers a good snowmobile package with free Wi-Fi, fridge and microwave. There’s parking for trucks and trailers with sleds in front of your room. Saint-Michel-des-Saints, Lanaudière – Auberge du Lac Taureau. Located just north of Saint-Michel-des-Saints, this amazing log construct is one of those surprising Quebec lodges located in the middle of nowhere. Secure sled parking. Saint-Raymond, Quebec Region – Hotel Roquemont. An excellent location for staging a tour, this 28-room hotel is easy to find, has a massive parking lot and sleds can be parked outside the door of ground floor rooms. With restaurant and pub on site, plus fuel and an Arctic Cat/Yamaha dealer next door (Ski-Doo dealer located just minutes down the trail), the Roquement really caters to snowmobilers. Saint-Zenon, Lanaudière – Auberge le Cabanon. Billed as the “Headquarters of the snowmobile kingdom”, this hotel offers on site fuel and secure sled parking, with plenty of room for vehicle parking too. Restaurant, indoor pool and hot tub. Saguenay (Jonquière), Saguenay Lac-St-Jean – Delta Hotel Saguenay. Full service hotel (was Holiday Inn until June, 2012) with restaurant, bar, secure sled compound and locked area for trucks and trailers. Fuel nearby. Val-d’Or, Abitibi-Témiscamingue – Hôtel Forestel. Large, well-appointed, full service hotel with two restaurants and bar. Sled parking in front of main lobby with 24 hr. surveillance. Ville Marie, Abitibi-Témiscamingue – La Bannik. Accessed by local trail from Trans Quebec 63 south of Town of Ville Marie, La Bannik is an ideal staging location for your Abitibi-Témiscamingue ride – secure, private, direct trail access, on site restaurant and heated sled garage. Perched high on a peninsula high above Lake Témiscamingue, La Bannik offers luxurious chalets of various sizes, many with their own outdoor hot tubs. View tour article.
